This Spring we are taking printmaking outside the Studio !

All materials and tuition is included. Our expert printmaker, Fiona Maher will be there to guide you around the Fountainbridge area for this active, alfresco printmaking workshop. You will also get a chance to learn some history about the area and the Edinburgh Printmakers building.

This event is part of Workshops Week 2026. Workshops Week is Scotland's Workshops' popular annual celebration and opportunity to learn about the ten visual arts production spaces in the Scotland’s Workshops network. 

This workshop is suitable for all levels of abilities from beginners to those wishing to develop existing skills.

Meet in the Learning Studio of Edinburgh Printmakers

In this workshop you will be inking up the street! Exploring the various textures and patterns that make up the urban environment through printmaking is a tactile way to connect to local history. 

Print Day in May is a global printmaking event, where people celebrate printmaking in all its forms. Get involved by joining this workshop and making your own print to submit to the online competition where you could win fantastic print related prizes, including 50% off one of Edinburgh Printmakers Summer Courses!

Fiona Maher

Fiona studied Printmaking at Edinburgh College of Art from 1979-1983.

Her printmaking practice is experimental, exploring a range of printmaking techniques and how they can interact with each other. In 2023, she was the first recipient of the EP Members Award at Edinburgh Printmakers Member's Show.



Community engagement is a key part of her practice and she devises and delivers a range of classes and workshops at Edinburgh Printmakers for a wide range of ages and abilities . She is passionate about skill sharing and exploring alternative approaches to traditional techniques. 

She was recently printmaker in residence in Penicuik - exploring the paper making history of the town through community based printmaking workshops.
