Join us for an artist talk to celebrate Jamie Fitzpatrick's solo exhibition Memorials to Sausage Politics, in conversation with curator Alessandro Vincentelli.
Their talk at Edinburgh Printmakers will discuss Jamie's new exhibition which embraces "the messy, chaotic internal workings behind how a nation constructs its own image".
In Memorials to Sausage Politics Jamie looks closely at the monuments, statues, and architectural decoration embedded in Edinburgh's streets. Working in sculpture and expanding his practice into print, he challenges the authority of statues and civic buildings by layering, cutting, rearranging and disrupting figures.
Memorials to Sausage Politics is on display at Edinburgh Printmakers from 24 July - 25 October 2026.
The exhibition has been generously supported by Henry Moore Foundation, with thanks to Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop in the realisation of this work. The exhibition and this event are part of Edinburgh Art Festival (14 August - 30 August 2026).

Jamie Fitzpatrick
Jamie Fitzpatrick (b. 1985, Southport) is an Edinburgh-based artist. He received his undergraduate degree in Fine Art, Philosophy & Contemporary Practice at Duncan Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee (2009). He later went on to do his Masters in Sculpture at Royal College of Art (2015). His thought-provoking style has gained him international attention and a multitude of prestigious exhibitions including UK/Raine at the Saatchi Gallery and the ‘New Contemporaries’ at the ICA, London (2015). He has won many awards including the UK/Raine Saatchi Gallery Sculpture Award (2015) and Visitor Vote Catlin Art Prize at Londonewcastle Project Space (2016). His residencies also include Fonderia Artistica Battaglia (2026), Hospitalfield (2024), Edinburgh Printmakers (2023) & Biruchiy contemporary art project with the British Council (Ukraine, 2016). Recent exhibitions include shows at St Chad’s & Vitrine Gallery, London and Deborah Bowmann Gallery, Brussels.
Alessandro Vincentelli
Alessandro Vincentelli is an independent curator, based in Scotland. He served as Curator of Research and Exhibitions at the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead from 2004 to 2020 where he curated and co-curated major exhibitions including Ed & Nancy Kienholz, Rodney Graham, Yoko Ono/Fluxus. Known for engaging audiences with themed group projects, social justice and ecology, other recent projects include the group show Who is Grafting Now! in ToploCentrala, Bulgaria in 2025.
He has worked with numerous artists and curated exhibitions including Sutapa Biswas, John Akomfrah, Brian Griffiths, Susan Philipsz, Jasmina Cibic, Elizabeth Price and Heather Phillipson amongst many others.
Recent writings include interviews and profiles for several artists for Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop (ESW Edinburgh /as part of RSA200) including one for Jamie Fitzpatrick, May 2026.
